Psyscope also has customizable colors, and there are three default skins to choose from. The width of the display can be set to any size, but the aspect ratio is fixed. You can change the size by clicking and dragging the lower-right corner of the UI. The plugin features a resizable interface, which is always a handy feature for audio analysis tools. Here’s a closer look at the Psyscope user interface. On the other hand, setting up multiple inputs in a modular host like MuLab is a breeze. I tested the plugin briefly in Studio One, and I haven’t figured out a way to monitor multiple channels simultaneously. Generally speaking, digital audio workstations that support modular routing are much more suitable for using plugins like Psyscope. Diagnostiek bij psychose kent 3 onderdelen: een individueel, een dimensionaal en een categoriaal profiel. The setup process is different for each plugin host. It’s important to point out that Psyscope requires some manual routing on the user’s end to enable multi-channel monitoring. This can be done with an EQ, but zooming in with Psyscope can help clear up the bass frequencies by making precise envelope adjustments or fine-tuning a side-chain compressor. Since these two instruments share the same low-end frequencies, it’s essential to leave enough room for both channels. For example, a music producer can utilize Psyscope to visualize the timing and the overlap of the bass drum and the bass synth. Showing the waveforms from different channels as layers can be a useful visual aid when mixing multiple percussive audio sources or various instruments that share a similar frequency range. ![]() “I lost everything,” Hubert tells Smith, directly citing his role in ending her run on the show. It calls attention to the damning label “difficult” for a Black woman in Hollywood, especially in the 1990s. Hubert meets with Smith for a truly gut-wrenching exchange. But the “Fresh Prince” reunion goes there. To create a 30-year homage without Hubert would rightly be incomplete, a historical revision that mutates something authentic into spin, easy TV divorced from conflict. “I have no interest in seeing any of these people on that kind of level.” “There will never be a true reunion of the Fresh Prince,” she said on Facebook at the time. Hubert had choice words for Ribeiro before condemning the alleged “reunion.” The tension between Hubert and Smith glittered headlines ever since, coming to a head in March 2017 when Ribeiro posted an Instagram photo of “Fresh Prince” colleagues noting only one absence, Avery. Janet Hubert killed the role, but season four kicked off with Reid subbing until the series concluded three years later. Halfway through, Aunt Viv underwent a recast. (photo courtesy of HBO Max)ĭuring the 1990s, the NBC series would not go unscathed by controversy. Will Smith and Janet Hubert, who portrayed Aunt Viv on the “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” but left the show under controversy, shared some poignant moments during the reunion. Of course, that happens in the absence of not one but two parents. The reunion is charming, each player laughing and sharing memories like a family as they explore the creation of a fictional one enjoyed by millions. The cast fondly remembers his best moments, both comedic and profound, presenting him as a masterful performer who elevated “Fresh Prince” in each scene. Perhaps the most poignant analysis comes when Smith briefly notes how relevant the series remains today for the worse, a reminder that some things have not improved for the better.Įach surviving member on screen creates a clear line between “Fresh Prince’s” authenticity and the late James Avery, the masterful actor behind Uncle Philip Banks. The juxtaposition between class and race prevailed across multiple seasons, poked fun at in Carlton’s love of Tom Jones and sincerely addressed in clashes with police officers. ![]() But a central topic, one emphasized by each cast member with pride, is what “Fresh Prince” tried to accomplish, not merely as comedy but media of substance. ![]() Unfortunately, Joseph Marcell, who played the (almost always) very formal house butler Geoffrey Butler, enjoys a few moments during the reunion (the show served him much better), while Daphne Reid, who played Aunt Vivian come season four, remains rather quiet throughout.Ī host of topics are covered, like casting rituals, on-set dynamics and recurring motifs. And Karyn Parsons must confront the audition she once submitted for valley girl Hilary Banks.Įven DJ Jazzy Jeff – simply Jazz on the show – enjoys some screen time, though the many times Uncle Phil throws him out of the house seem to go unnoticed. Tatyana Ali discusses the anxieties of growing up while portraying the youngest Banks sibling, Ashley. Of course, Alfonso Ribeiro breaks down the Carlton, the prominent dance named after his character that keeps popping up across pop culture. He might control all the pieces, but plenty of reflections paint a picture of a novice uninitiated to the acting craft, some quite hilarious. Of course, Smith leads the discussion, as he led the show until its end in 1996. Most of the old crew return, with one glaring absence (more on that later, folks). The cast converges in familiar terrain, the living room they shared for six seasons, portraying a culture clash between affluent relatives the Banks family in Bel Air and a cousin sent away from west Philly when “a couple of guys who were up to no good started making trouble,” Smith rapped at the start of 148 episodes. This is the crème de la crème of reunions, no buffering issues or lost resolution along the way. In the game of reunions, only one rules them all: HBO Max’s official “Fresh Prince” special, celebrating the series’ premiere 30 years ago. Perhaps that was merely a teaser of something more epic to come. Like the others, it came and went, a quaint appetizer for 12 minutes. Check out Josh Gad’s YouTube series “Reunited Apart” for a host of options.Įven “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” earned such social media exposure on Will Smith’s YouTube channel in March. When the song came out, some DJs did the sums and realised that, since commercial airliners only flew at six miles, we must have been talking about a different kind of high. Gene asked: “How high do you think that plane was flying?” I thought about seven miles, but the Beatles had a song called Eight Days a Week, so we changed it to Eight Miles High because we thought that would be cooler. It was our first time on a plane, and I had the idea of writing a song about it. The previous year, 1965, we’d been on a trip to England. So a major 3rd, say F# up to A#, inverts to a minor 6th, A# up to F#. Furthermore, Diminished intervals invert to Augmented intervals and vice versa, Minor and Major intervert to each other, and Perfect intervals invert to Perfect intervals. An interval plus its inversion always adds up to 9, 2nds to 7ths, 3rds to 6ths, and so on. When we invert a major 6th, we get a minor 3rd. When we invert a perfect 4th, we get a perfect 5th. Let's do it with this perfect 4th, moving the F# above the B. I've already mentioned inversions of intervals, where we move the bottom note of an interval up an octave or the top note down an octave. And an augmented 6th is a half step wider than a major 6th. Since C natural is "La" in Eb major, three flats. One more, what is an augmented 6th down from C#? First, C anything down a 6th is E something. Remember shrinking a perfect interval gives a diminished interval, not a minor one. And you know that raising the bottom note or lowering the top note shrinks the interval, making it narrower. ![]() You know that perfect 4ths have the same accidentals. How about D# to G natural? You know that D to G is a 4th. ![]() The major 3rd has been made wider so the interval is augmented. For example, what is the interval Ab up to C#? If you already know that A to C# is a major 3rd, you know that Ab to C is also a major 3rd and you can easily figure out Ab to C#. If you have memorized your major 3rds, even just the major 3rds up from the white keys on the piano, and if you remember that all perfect intervals have the same accidentals except for the two between B and F, you can figure out any unknown interval by comparing it to a known interval. ![]() Let's start this lecture by practicing labeling and spelling intervals. But there are faster ways, such as using scale degree relationships, Do up to any diatonic interval is major, or perfect. For example, a diminished 5th has 6 half steps. We saw how we can count half steps to figure out intervals. 2nds, 3rds, 6ths and 7ths can be Major, Minor, Diminished or Augmented. We said Unisons, 4ths, 5ths and Octaves can be Perfect, Diminshed and Augmented. Someone will doubtless rightly remind me that there is a known set of generally-accepted frequencies for each scale, and they would be right to do so, indeed if they know where, it would be a useful contribution: however in the real world, once tuned, the orchestra gently drifts off-tune at quie an alarming rate, at times, as instruments and the venue warm up abnd humidity from players and audience has is effect, so in reality we rarely if ever play in any kind of theoretically-perfect way.In the last lecture, we defined all the possible intervals. The question is, where to find such a beast? Yes, I could use oscilloscope software to create MP3 files, but that's a lot of files, and they'd have to loop.ĭon't forget, for that matter, that we should avoid perfect pitch, because it's too perfect - I wrote up the guide for harp players a long time ago, because we use the circle-of-fifths on the second harmonic to get a complete enharmonic tuning as stage one of a complete tune-up, but the last stage is perhaps the most essential, we then tune off just a little, to keep harmonics within the note, but not in the fifths. The oboe's used because it's fairly stable, and it's not got serious overtomes, but a sine-wave is the simplest. What also drives me towards an electronic pipe is purity of tone, the usual buzz is wrong in so many ways, all over the shop in frequency, harmonics, and tone. I also sing pre-baroque, so I need to have a frequency-adjust for things like A-339 on top. ce=froogle - about $80) - more compact than one of the little Casio or similar keyboardsĬellphone apps: for the iphone, for example, there are two versions of a piano for pitch-one has smaller keys but 2 octaves if you want to play songs, the other is just one octave with bigger keys Pocket Tones nifty keychain electronic pitch instrument: e.g. Pitch pipe, non electric (I prefer C to C versus F to F) However, I would find it distracting if someone used an electronic device to give pitch in a concert-best to stick to tuning fork or pitch pipe for concerts, and use in rehearsal the same thing you'll use in concert so singers get used to it.
